new(ish) car

It's been a month. I got a new car, the Toyota Matrix. I decided to get a used one in the end, a 2004 in great shape with an active warranty for another 30,000 miles and so far I am very pleased with it.

We had a party on Easter Sunday which was nice. A few neighbors came and were very nice. We had way too much food, of course. The floor in the trailer is finished and it is gorgeous, althought they were a little lazy on the baseboards, but I can live with it or fix it myself if it bothers me in the future. It's just tint details in the corners really.

I've been working on an herb garden on the back porch in planters, so far the cilantro is thriving. I am going to plant some strawberries and some gladiolas this week. I just started weeding the raised planter boxes, and man is it a lot of work! I got halfway through one box, and there are three of them.

The vegetable garden should be underway soon, John (the guy who is going to trade garden veggies for the use of our pasture) is bringing in a tractor to till up the soil next week I think.
That should be exciting. I'll be sure to get some before, during and after photos.

I am going to try to find a job now, even though I really don't know what I want to do really. I mean I know I want to do something with food. I'd like to pursue radio or voice-over work and I might look into classes to that end at SRJC, but I need a job right away so that's down the road if anything.

I'm thinking I may try to get a job at a winery. I might have to do some commuting but it would probably be against the heavy traffic so I could live with it, plus it would be fun to learn about the process. Even better would be to get a job preparing food in a winery that has a restaurant or serves food in the tasting rooms. There's got to be something I can do that will be fun and not boring and not too far away.

I'd also be happy working for some small shop like an antique store or nifty little gift shop. Of course, on the other hand there is always the post office! I wouldn't mind the benefits of a government job, that's for sure.

The house plans are moving right along, mom is trying to get her house in order to sell, and meanwhile she's moving piles of stuff up here slowly. She bought Helen's Toyota truck so she is now able to move some of the larger items like without us having to borrow a truck, yay!

I went to one of my top three least favorite places today, the DMV. I went to register the new car and it turned out the seller forgot to sign one spot so I have to get back together with them again before I can register it, how annoying. On the bright side, it will cost less than $400, and I was expecting around $1000. Good news.

On the baby front: Dominic is a monster, stays up like a rock star, plays like a dare-devil and reacts like a cry-baby every time one of his insane extreme sports adventures goes awry.
Did I mention how irresistibly adorable he is and how he just keeps getting cuter with every new day?
