Yesterday I made a double batch of hummus (starting with dried chickpeas of course), a batch of dal and a big pan of keema for Julie. All were delicious and all a pleasure to create in the space. What a difference a good space combined with good tools can make!

Semi-Moved-In
I just realized the only photos of the house I've posted are before we moved in. We're not totally settled in(haven't painted, hung curtains etc.) but here are a few shots of it occupied at least.

Well, this is my bedroom, a half-done shambles. Sadly, the rest of the photos I was planning to post are in my camera, not my iPhone, and until I set up my computer, that's where they will remain. I'll try to take care of that this week and post them as soon as I have a little downtime. On the bright side, the photos will be a lot better quality than these! I'm really dissapointed in the camera on my iPhone. :(

My Salon/Pantry So Far
Today I finally tackled all the boxes that were piled up in the room designated to be my salon-slash-pantry (to handle the overflow of kitchen related stuff). What a feeling of accomplishment! What's really exciting is that there is still plenty of space left on the shelves in here AND lots of empty cabinet space in the kitchen so we can figure out where things will be most easily accessed as we settle in over time.

So far no shampoo sink, but I've got the chair, hair dryer and color station. I have a beautiful grey shampoo sink just waiting to be installed, but it's low on the priority list at the moment.

Note the TherabathPro Paraffin Tub in the corner. A miracle gizmo for aching hands, feet and elbows (joints in general--great therapy for arthritis pain). Also makes for phenominal facials.

Pay no attention to what's hiding behind the crappy green curtain!

VoilĂ ! Enough canned goods and spices to hold us over for months!

In the white storage tubs is all the dried beans, grains and pasta to go with all the canned goods and spices during a self-imposed hybernation or unexpected emergency. These shelves are still a work in progress, but I wanted to show the whole room.

This set of shelves is a real mess! Being right inside the kitchen door and nearest the garage (out the side door, shown in the second shot, behind the chair) it tends to collect a lot of tools and supplies as we work on various projects. Hopefully that will change after a while, but for now it is surprisingly okay with me!
